Richard Cody Obituary

Richard H. Cody, 87, of Council Bluffs, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Risen Son Christian Village. There are no visitation or services planned. His body has been cremated. Memorials are suggested to Risen Son Christian Village or Asera Care Hospice, both of Council Bluffs. Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring handled the arrangements.
Richard was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Mills County, to the late James and Erma (Dreyer) Cody. He married Doris Teager May 30, 1945. Richard worked as a farmer and later was a data systems technician for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1986. He served his country in the US Coast Guard during World War II. He belonged to NARFE- National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Doris in 2010; son, Richard Cody in 2012; and sister, Ruth Wing. He is survived by daughter, Linda Cody of Council Bluffs; daughter-in-law, Sharon Cody of Linwood, Neb.; two grandchildren, Susan Cody of Linwood; and Jim and Melissa Cody of North Bend, Neb.; great-grandson, Bryce Cody of North Bend; sister-in-law, Ruth Camp of Phelan, Calif.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
