Cecil Ward Hunt, 92 of Silver City, entered into rest on Oct. 11, 2017, in Council Bluffs. He was born on July 8, 1925, in Mills County to Richard Cecil and Evelyn Marie (Williams) Hunt. Following his schooling he began his farming career. He faithfully served his country in the Navy during WWII receiving a purple heart for wounds received as a result of enemy action in the Asiatic-Pacific area on Oct. 13, 1944. Ward was united to Catherine Jane Skerritt on Feb. 11, 1951, in Silver City. To this union two children were born, Rodney and Sheila. The family resided on their farm east of Silver City.
Ward had a passion for purchasing new pickups and loved the shiny chrome. He was a member of the Silver City American Legion. Ward enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast and spending time with his family.
Preceding Ward in passing were his parents and wife, Catherine. Survivors include his children, Rod and wife Lori Hunt of Malvern; Sheila Hunt of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Brenna and husband Jason Brown of Portland, Ore.; Quincy Hunt of Bellevue, Neb.; one great-grandson, Finnegan Hunt; brother, Bill Hunt of Silver City; niece, Pam and husband Dale Sargent of Pacific Junction; extended relatives and many friends.
Services were Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Peterson Mortuary with a visitation preceding. Interment was held in the Silver City Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Silver City United Methodist Church, Silver City Fire and Rescue or Malvern Fire and Rescue.
