Esther M. Cann, 85 of Glenwood, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley. Funeral Services were Monday Aug. 19, 2013, at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 18 with a prayer service following at the funeral home. Rev. Kim Crummer officiated. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Esther was born March 11, 1928 in Kirkwood, Del., to Harry and Clara May (Thornton) Murray. At 16, she graduated from high school in 1944 in Middletown, Del. In 1948, she received her degree as a registered nurse from Wilmington General Hospital in Wilmington, Del. Esther was married to Joseph Poulson Cann Nov. 28, 1952. His career with Campbell's Soup Company relocated them to Omaha and back to New Jersey before retiring to Glenwood in 1994.
Esther was an avid sports fan and especially liked the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Boston Celtics. She enjoyed potluck dinners, playing cards with friends, many of whom she met through church and their affiliation with garden clubs. The couple enjoyed traveling, taking trips to places like Europe and Hawaii.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents and husband Joseph in 2002; sister, Grace Bozman; brothers, Clarence, Harry, James and William. Survivors include her daughter Susan Osler of Seattle, Wash.; son Joseph C. Cann of Mondamin; grandchildren Christopher Shawn Osler and Dru Osler both of Seattle; and sister Dorothy Harrison of Cape Cod, Mass.
