Harold, one of two sons of Adelia Leona (Campsey) and Emmett Henry Jack, was born Aug. 29, 1938, in Omaha, Neb. He grew up in the Omaha area where he attended school through the 10th grade. Harold enlisted in the United States Navy on Aug. 29, 1955 and was honorably discharged on Nov. 2, 1955. Harold returned to Omaha and began work for the city of Omaha and state of Nebraska. For 18 years, he worked at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Neb., as a civil engineer. Harold was employed with the Mills County Secondary Roads Department for another 18 years and retired as foreman.
Harold and Janis Marie Andrews were married Nov. 12, 1955, in Plattsmouth, Neb. Their marriage was blessed with six children, Rory, Chris, Lorrie, Lisa, Brent and Amy.
Harold enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Following his retirement, he and Janis camped and visited Branson often. Harold was known as "Mr. Fixit" and considered a "jack of trades" who had a special fondness for using duct tape. He also found enjoyment in quilting for his family members. Harold loved his family and grandkids, all who were his pride and joy. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, and great friend to all who knew him. Harold's true calling was simply being a grandfather. He always had time to go to the park, visit the zoo, attend school events, or tell his "grandpa stories" and jokes to his grandchildren.
