Margaret Alice Hammer, 88, formerly of Council Bluffs and Tabor, died May 23, 2014, while living in Minnesota near her daughter. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., July 26, 2014, at The Victorian Inn, Tabor. Margaret was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Malvern to Vernon V. and Hazel Wyant. She taught elementary school in Shenandoah, Tabor and 25 years at Walnut Grove in Council Bluffs. She was a P.E.O. member for more than 50 years, active in chapters in Tabor and Council Bluffs and a longtime member of the Congregational Church in Tabor and First Congregational Church in Council Bluffs.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marlin Hammer and brother, Robert Wyant. She is survived by son, John Vernon Hammer (Donna), Denver; daughters, Marlys (Steve) Kimes, Eden Prairie, Minn.; and Terri (Steve) Van Dyke, Bettendorf; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her kind and loving spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
