Roger D. Miller, 78, of Council Bluffs, formerly of Mineola, died June 6, 2013, at the Hospice with Heart House in Glenwood. Visitation with the family was Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral services were Monday, June 10, at St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola, with Rev. Shannyn Magee officiating. Interment was in Mineola Cemetery with military rites tendered by the Mineola American Legion Post No. 705. Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice with Heart Hospice House.

Roger was born Aug. 13, 1934, in Council Bluffs to the late Ray and Ruth (Rogers) Miller. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1952 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Roger farmed and worked various jobs before retiring in 1990. He married Kathy Coffey in October 1987. She died in 1989. Roger was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola and served on the church council, was on the Oak Township Trustee Board as well as the Salem Lutheran Church (Plumer Settlement) Board and a member of the American Legion Post No. 1 in Omaha.
In addition to his wife and parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Miller in 1982. Roger is survived by his nephew, Mike Miller of Minneapolis, Minn.; nieces, Nancy Mapes of Atlanta and Janet Pollastrini of Chicago; sister-in-law, Joanne Miller of Fremont, Neb., and many dear friends.
