Dorothy L. Brandt, 93, Gretna, Neb., formerly of Council Bluffs, died June 3, 2014, at Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna. Visitation with the family was Friday, June 6, 2014, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel, Council Bluffs. Funeral services were Saturday, June 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenwood. Rev. Seth Kaiser officiated. Interment was in Plumer Settlement Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Dorothy was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Council Bluffs to the late Henry and Augusta (Westphal) Buch. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1938. Dorothy married Albert John Brandt July 10, 1942, in Glenwood. They were blessed with five children, Keith, Joyce, Roger, Mark and Michele. Dorothy was a homemaker, member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood, Dorcas Circle and the Trinity Lutheran Quilters.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Brandt on July 14, 1989; great-grandson, Jack Pyle; brothers, Carl, Julius, Ernest and Otto Buch; and sister, Helen Dickersbach. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Miles) McMahill, Gretna, Michele (Richard) Delanty, Camdenton, Mo.; sons, Keith (Susie) Brandt, Seymour, Tenn., Roger (Trudy) Brandt, Mark (Susan) Brandt, all of Omaha; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
