Nisson, Alice Lubbock,
passed away on 4/22/2013 (98), joining her husband C. Arthur Nisson who passed away on 8/13/2008 (92). She died peacefully in her home in Santa Ana, CA surrounded by family members.
Alice was born on 11/17/1914 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa and taught English to high school students in the local Cedar Rapids area. She completed her Masters degree in English and Speech at Colombia University in New York and at the University of Southern California. She was and probably still is a beloved Trojan fan.
In 1942 she married Lt. C. Arthur Nisson in Ft Lewis, Washington. During the war she was an airplane spotter for the US Army
and sat in a high tower in Ventura, CA and identified each plane as it passed over. After the war, she moved back to C. Arthur's home town, Santa Ana, CA where he started his law practice. Alice and her husband were long time members of the Tustin Presbyterian Church. Alice was active in the local community and was the first president of the Lawyer's Wives of Orange County and went on to be president of such organizations as the Junior Ebell Society, the Tustin Assistance League, Chapter D2 of the PEO, and the Lady Golfer of the Santa Ana Country Club. She played golf with her husband there for many years on a weekly basis and had six holes-in-one to her husband's seven. She was a skilled artist and regularly attended art class, painting up until a few weeks before her death and was well known for her custom Christmas cards that contained one of her paintings on the cover.
She had three children: Arthur, Robert, and Peter Nisson; and six grandchildren: Victor, Vanessa, Aerielle, Justus, Peyton, and Reed Nisson.
Memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Santa Ana Cemetery, 1919 E. Santa Clara in Santa Ana at 11 am for a grave side service. Mourners are invited to the Santa Ana County Club at 20382 Newport Boulevard, Santa Ana for a reception beginning at 12:30.
