Jauregui, Eugene "Gene" Bertran,
age 90, passed away April 23, 2011, in Orange, California. He was born November 12, 1920, in Tustin, California, to Juan Miguel and Salome Jauregui. He was the third from the oldest of seven children. Gene's parents were farmers, and he carried on the business after his discharge in 1946 from the army paratroopers. He began a lifelong career in construction in 1949 and continued farming until 1959. Gene approached each endeavor with the same tenacity as any of his work related enterprises (his hallmark approach was to rise early and work hard with enthusiasm which was taught to all his children) until he gracefully retired into a relaxed lifestyle at the age of 65. Gene spent the rest of his life working on his acre of avocado and orange trees and extensive flower and vegetable gardens. All of these gardens surrounded the home he built his wife Pauline in 1960 designed from the pictures she cut from Better Homes and Gardens magazines. He made a clearing, poured the concrete, and board by board he gave life to our Mother's dream and created a home for all his children to enjoy. He lived in and enjoyed it all until his death. Many wonderful memories were created in this house our father built. While serving in the military during WWII
, from December 1944 to October 1946, Gene was decorated with the following Citations: Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Army of occupation Medal. Gene was preceded by first wife Pauline of 46 years. He is survived by his brother, Peter and his wife, Ruth of Escondido, CA; his daughter, Ann Harrell and her partner, Don George, his son, David Jauregui and his wife, Beth, her daughter, Patience, his daughter, Jeanette Jauregui, his son, Paul Jauregui and his wife, Audrey, and their two sons Ryan Jauregui and his wife Cindy, and son, Mychael Jauregui. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Stephanie Turner and her husband, Bob, and their children Becky and her husband Clay, their son, Josh, their daughter, Robyn, by his stepson, Christopher and his wife Sue, and their son, Alex. There are many precious family members we would like to name as all of them were dear to him & brought him joy to know.
