George James "Pop" Gamar

Gamar, George James "Pop", 75, passed away on January 28, 2008. George was born September 30, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Florence Gamar. George served his country with honor as a Navy yeoman from 1952 to 1956. In 1952 he married Jannette, and proceeded to raise his family in California and live 58 years in Orange County. George is preceded in death by his wife, Jannette; daughter, Lannette Gamar Walton; his older brother, Tom Gamar, and his sisters. He is survived by his children, Georgette Gamar Correlli of Arizona, Geri Gamar, Thomas Gamar and Timothy George Gamar of California; seventeen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. George opened his first company Portion Meat in 1958 and later went on to open many successful businesses including Orange County Cold Storage. He enjoyed traveling to foreign places, golfing with his golf buddies and has been an Anaheim Angels Season ticket holder since 1962. A kind and gentle soul, George has left us all a legacy of love, kindness and strength and will live in our hearts forever. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Family and friends are invited to join our family in celebrating the life of this honorable, well respected man. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at 12:00 noon, La Purisma Catholic Church, 11712 N. Hewes Street, Orange, CA. 92869. Honorary Military Service, 2:00pm at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 7845 Santiago Canyon Rd., Orange with reception to follow at Embassy Suites, 3100 E. Frontera Street, Anaheim, 4:00pm.
