Salaets, John Patrick
or Pat as her preferred to be called was a native Anaheim resident. He was born Feb. 18th, 1928 to Esther and Alfonse Salaets in Anaheim. He was one of eleven children. He attended St. Boniface School and then Anaheim High School Class of 1946. In high school he was a straight A student and was awarded a scholarship to Berkley. World War II
had just ended and Pat joined the army
the day after V-J Day and he put his education on hold. He served his country with the 3rd Engineer combat battalion in Japan. He was discharged just before Christmas in 1947.
Pat married his high school sweetheart Eileen Ramella. He then resumed his education attending Fullerton Jr. College and then USC. Pat was employed by McDonnell Douglas, retiring in 1983 after a 30 year career.
Pat's great grandson, age 8, described him as a "Good Man". He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandson. He liked family dinners, traveling and sports, always routing for UCLA
Pat is survived by his wife Eileen of sixty-fife years; his three children, Lynn, Dennis and Cindy; as well as three grandchildren, Travis, Jessica and Brian; and great grandson, Jake. He is also survived by brothers, Albert, Alfred and Danny; sisters, Eileen Berry, Helen Morgan; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all.
Services will be at Fairhaven Memorial Park 12:30 Sept. 6th, 2013. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to 12:30 followed by a graveside service. www.fairhavenmrmorial.com
