Brown, William Robert
March 17, 1962 - October 3, 2013
Born in Royal Oak, Michigan to Robert and Beverly Brown, Bill subsequently moved with his family to Saratoga, CA, Downers Grove IL, Upper Saddle River, NJ, and Thousand Oaks, CA, where he attended High School and met his future wife.
He was in the first graduating class from Westlake High in Thousand Oaks where he played football and made a wealth of lifelong friends. Following high school, he worked his way through college, graduating from California State University, Chico, earning a degree in Marketing / Business Administration in 1986.
Shortly after graduation, in 1986 Bill married the love of his life, Diana Jelly, whom he had met when he'd briefly attended Newbury Park High School shortly after arriving in the Thousand Oaks area from New Jersey. That marriage produced their two wonderful children, Austin, who has recently graduated from her dad's alma mater, Chico State, and Kyle, who is a student at U.C. Santa Barbara studying Economics / Business Administration in his dad's footsteps.
In addition to Diana, Austin and Kyle and Diana's parents, Dan and Gloria Jelly of Anaconda, Montana, and their families, and Bill's mom and dad, Beverly and Robert Brown of Westlake Village, California, Bill leaves his sister, Pamela Kelly and her husband, Peter and their children Rebecca, Elizabeth, Samuel and Jacob in Brentwood, CA; sister, Karen Auzat and her husband David and their children, Kristin, Megan, and Ryan, in Simi Valley CA; and his younger brother, David and his wife Audra and their children Molly and Cody, of Irvine, CA.
Bill Brown was an outstanding salesman and had experienced strong success in two industries. He spent over 12 years in the Information Technology Service business with a leading technology service company in Southern California. He also was a star in the in the mattress and bedding side of the furniture business where he was nationally recognized as a sales leader in multiple states. He was in that industry, responsible for West Coast business, on a sales trip out of state when he experienced his sudden passing.
Bill was always one of the family leaders in setting a winning and cheerful tone for the many events that he enjoyed with his family and his siblings' families, his parents and all his many friends. He was a great fan of the New York Yankees and San Francisco 49'ers, and the '49'ers, in particular, will be hard pressed to survive without he and his Mom's cheering for them on game days, then calling each other on the phone to celebrate or commiserate, depending on game results.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on October 19 at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church, 24772 Chrisanta Drive | Mission Viejo, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family specifically requests that donations be made to the
