Charles Pettit

Pettit, Charles "Chuck,"a resident of Yucca Valley for 20 years, died Aug. 24, 2010, at his home in Yucca Valley. He was 69 years old. The son of Winnie O. Pettit and Laura N. Pettit, he was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Pettit, Texas. Mr. Pettit served in the U.S. Army for six years, working in Special Services. President Richard Nixon wrote a letter of appreciation to him and his crew for a job well done of implementing a secret communication system. Mr. Pettit was a communications engineer for 38 years until retirement. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Pettit of Yucca Valley; son, Charles "Chip" Pettit of Palm Desert; his daughter, Robin Marsilio of Huntington Beach; granddaughter, Jessica Pettit of New London, Iowa; grandson, Joshua Pettit of Yucca Valley; and sisters, Marlene Reafsnyder of Garden Grove, Delores Gowdy of Escondido and Pamela Sullivan of Fontana. Services to be held at Shannon-Bryan Mortuary 137 E. Maple Orange, CA 92866 October 27th, 2010 at 2:00pm. Celebration of Life to follow.
