Roy Davis Obituary

Davis, Roy Phillip, of Anaheim, passed away at the age of 75, early Wednesday morning at 1:34 am. Born to the late Roy and Amelia Davis, February 23 1935, in Los Angeles California, Roy grew up hard and fast in L.A. While working graveyard at a factory and shining shoes on the weekends, Roy still managed to find time for high school, sports, and all the other things a child of 15 did. There in Los Angeles, Roy met the Love of his life, Sue. After exchanging their vows, and a few short stops in between Mr. and Mrs. Davis eventually landed themselves in Anaheim, where they began their family. Roy worked in the heat and frost trade with the local 5 for 35 years, holding true to that work ethic he picked up early, as a child. Roy was an accomplished fisherman, outdoorsman, and an avid charger fan, but the thing he loved the most……was his family. Roy is survived by three daughters, Deborah Blankenship, Vicky Biggs and Tami Thorne. In Addition, Roy is survived by 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and countless friends all of which loved him dearly. Remembered by many names… Dad, grandpa, pa-pa, pops, whatever it is, I know this; you were admired, envied, respected and most importantly loved. We love you "pops" You are gone, but will never be forgotten. Your legacy thrives! You would be proud! We'll see ya soon! A viewing will be held on Monday October 18, 2010 from 4-8pm at Dimond & Shannon mortuary in Garden Grove. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 10a.m. Also at Dimond & Shannon Mortuary in Garden Grove. Dimond & Shannon Mortuary

To my papa,
You meant more to me than anyone. You cheered me on my entire life. You were the voice in my head, and my motivation to do better. It saddens me that I lost you before you could see me succeed, or that David couldn't have more time with you. You are at peace now, and for that I am happy. I'm thankful for having you in my life, and all the things you taught me. You set the bar high papa, and I hope I make you proud. I love you so very much.

My prayers are with you Debi, Vickie, Tami and Family. I have so many memories of your dad with our softball years. He said to never throw like a girl and don't cry. Dig-Dig-Dig was his favorite words. He made me tuff that I even gave him a black eye and he didn't cry. He was a good looking man and the love for his girls was amazing. We will miss him but his great memories will keep us strong.

Tami, Vicki and Debi,

I am so thankful that I was able to at least share a bit of your dad's time and have wonderful memories. Found this picture last night after the viewing and thought I would share since I didn't seen any softball pictures of him. What a great guy! Thank you for bringing him into my life!

papa, i will never forget how wonderful of a person you were., to your entire family. you never left another in the dark and we're always supportive. i think i scared you a bit in my teenage years though with my funky hair colors and weird outfits haha, i still knew you would love me no matter what. i will never forget you, your modesty around me i could see through and especially in the end i made sure you got what you wanted even though you didn't want to ask because you didn't want to be a "burden" which i thought was really sweet. i will never forget and all the memories we all shared, and that smile that always brightened my day. i love you with all of my heart, mind and soul papa. you can rest peacefully now. xoxo

To my father:
There are no words to express the sadness that is in my heart.
You were our fierce protector, a wonderful provider and the best father any 3 little girls could ever have. I'm glad God gave us you for our dad. Now God has called you home for a much needed rest. I know you are happy and at peace and are reunited with Mom.
I am proud to have been your daughter.
Until i see you again.
Love you always
Vicki

Grandpa, I love you soooo much. I only wish I told you more. I guess I was afraid you would think I was soft or somehow less of a man. You taught be so many things in life that I couldn't even begin to enumerate. I always tried to model myself after you. I always wanted to be tough as nails, a man's man, to be a loving husband and a great father. I am still working on that. You've definately rubbed off on me over the years, some traits better than others...If you know what I mean. You were always like my Father and for that I am truly thankful. All the sporting events you went to, the times we played catch together in the backyard, charger games, fishing, camping, those days I shall never forget. You are gone, but you will NEVER be forgotten. I love you grandpa! As Grandma so poignently put it, "You are the Love of My Life!"

Grandpa, I love you with all my heart. I didn't tell you that enough as I thought you might think I was less of a man. I always wanted to impress you and make you proud of me as you were a father figure to me. I did my best to be just like you...Tough as nails, a man's man, a provider, a great husband and a loving father. I'm still working on it. I need your help! You were always there for me...Good times and bad. I had so many good times at charger games, on the boat, fishing and camping.I will miss you, more than you know. I'll try not to be selfish though, I know you are in heaven with our lord and Savior. Gone, but never forgotten! In the words of Grandma, "You are the love of my life!"

Pops! I will never forget all the good times we had at the Charger games together! Always yelling at Mike to slow down on our way home from the games made us all laugh! I will miss all the tailgating, BBQ'ing, and throwing the football around together, and all the knowledge about doing good in life! POP'S we will never forget and one day we will be tailgating together again in heaven! I never had a grandpa in life but I considered you one! POP'S god bless you and one day will see you again!!

I remember so many things about you Roy, slumber parties at your house as our families "traded" sisters for the night, how willing you always were to listen to me, how handsome you were (and oh so cool), and how you smiled at me when I showed you the pic of my boyfriend and you said how cute he was. It was just nice to be around you , Sue, and the girls. I miss you, enjoy the rest, and I'll see you again someday. Love, Valerie Davis Vicari

My dear sweet father-- I miss you so much but I am glad that you are not in pain and that you are now with mom and our dear Lord in Heaven. I have so many wonderful memories of you and me and our family. Those memories will bring me strength when I need it. I know my sisters and family will help me get through this difficult time—we will lean on each other, just the way you taught us—we are family and our family will be there for each other—just the way you would want it. I thank you for all that you taught me over the years and for always believing in me. You were always my biggest fan, no matter what I did-- you loved me unconditionally and believed in me. My children were so lucky to have you as their papa— your love, guidance, and support have made a huge impact on their lives. You loved them so much and they knew it—you were always at their sporting events, cheering them on and if you couldn't be there–you were the first person to call me to see how they did. Rest in Peace dad --I love you! Tami
