Lealand Launer Obituary

Launer, Lealand Convis, peacefully passed way on July 24, 2010 at the age of 92. Lee was born in Los Angeles on June 14, 1918, the son of Albert and Lulu Launer, both parents being early Orange County residents. Lee graduated from Fullerton Union High School, the University of Redlands, and the University of Southern California School of Law. Launer's law school studies were interrupted by his service in the US Navy as a commissioned officer in the Naval Air Transport Division. He was later admitted to the California Bar Association in 1948 and joined his father's law firm: Launer, Chaffee, and Launer. Throughout his career, he specialized in corporate law. Launer served as CEO of Fletcher Aviation Corporation, Hadco Engineering, Interstate Electronics Corp. and Shafco Industries. Lee's interests primarily centered on family, church, and community. He was a member and active leader in both Fullerton First United Methodist Church and the Newport Center United Methodist Church. Lee served on the Orange County Aviation Commission, five years as Chairman, during the planning stages of the Orange County Airport. He served 19 years on the University of Redlands Board of Trustee and has since been designated Trustee Emeritus. He also served 9 years on the Advisory Board of Cal State University, Fullerton. Lee and his wife, Betty, travelled extensively, especially to Switzerland, where the Launer clan originated. Leland is survived by his wife, Betty, of 69 years; sister, Kathryn Launer Corbett and four children: Lawrence B. Launer, Luanne Launer Kreutzer, Leland C. Launer Jr., and Alan E. Launer and 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Donations may be made in Launer's name to: Newport Center United Methodist Church, Memory Garden Fund, 1601 Marguerite Ave., Corona del Mar, CA 92625; or to The University of Redlands Scholarship Fund, 1200 East Colton Ave. P.O. Box 3080, Redlands, CA 92373-0999. A private memorial service is planned. Pacific View Mortuary

Mrs. Launer and Family,

I know you must have so many precious memories of your lives with Mr. Launer, and as you return to your everyday lives, may God's love and those memories sustain you.

Mr. Launer gave me my first job in Anaheim after moving there from Ohio 42 years ago.

He was a very special man and a joy to work for.

Now you have another angel in heaven looking out for you.
