Audrey Palmquist Obituary

Palmquist, Audrey July 28, 1910 - September 11, 2010 Audrey Palmquist, 100, passed to eternal life on September 11, 2010 at her home in Laguna Woods, California. She was born July 29, 1910 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She lived there and in Toronto until 1965 when she moved to California. She was predeceased by her dear husband, Eddie who died in 1999. She is survived by her son, Paul (Kristi) Van Sickle and the five children of Eddie: Helen (Ken) Gillanders, Ed (Judy) Palmquist, Bill (Sue) Palmquist, Mary (Jim) Martorana, and Debby (John) McVay. She and Eddie are also survived by twenty grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren with number 27 on the way, and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her long time loving and cherished friend, Ginny Hammond. Eddie and Audrey were internationally known dance teachers and choreographers. Their dancers and dance friends from around the world hold them in the highest respect and mourn their loss. Audrey was involved in many clubs at Laguna Woods Village such as the Ebell Club and the Garden Club. Her love for gardening is apparent in the many beautiful flowers in her garden. Her many friends from the clubs and her neighbors will miss her. In her final battle with cancer she and the family were assisted by the professional loving care of the staff and nurses of Hospice of Saddleback Valley. Their tenderness and concern were a constant comfort to Audrey and the family. Their help and encouragement allowed Audrey to have a peaceful passing at her home. She was also assisted by her loving caregiver, Delia Peralta, who was dedicated and tireless in her devotion. She received the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick from a Catholic priest just a few days before her death. In God's great Mercy, we have the hope of her eternal life and our reunion with her and Eddie in the Heavenly Kingdom. Visitation and Rosary will be Wednesday, September 15, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at McCormick and Son Mortuary in Laguna Woods. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 16, at St. Nicholas Church in Laguna Woods. McCormick and Son Mortuary (949) 768-0933

A lady of true state and grace has passed into a new existence. One of love and grace forever, heaven. She, like a queen, graced our life with great personal understanding and grace. My father was so lucky to have had her in his life before his death. Her warm smile, gental touch, and caring understanding will truly be missed by us all. Truly "Long Live the Queen!"

When I dance with Sandy or we watch others enjoying themselves while dancing, we will remember Audrey.

On that occasion when, after a fine day, we elect to top it off with just a little Remy Martin, we will remember Audrey.

When we meet a decent, respectable person with a strong personality, we will remember Audrey.

Every time we meet a fun loving person, or, if we are fortunate enough to attend a fine gathering/party we will remember Audrey.

Every time we meet a kind, good, compassionate person, we will remember Audrey.

Every time we think about those individuals that had a truly positive impact on our lives; those who made our life better, we will think of Audrey.

We loved her and we will miss her, but we know she had a life well lived and our faith tells us she is now enjoying the rewards.

A candle has gone out, but her glow will live on forever in the dance world. Eddie and Audrey were mentors to so many people, and Ellie and I were two of them. Living so far away (Alaska), we were still able to attend many events where they were the featured teachers. I phoned them many times, and they were always helpful and supportive. Their dances will live on forever. I can see them now planning their first dance weekend "clinic" in Heaven. May they both rest in peace.

Love,
Don

My husband and I did not have the opportunity to be taught by Audrey & Eddie. However, we have danced much of their choreography and taught much of it. They brought such joy to the lives of many, especially to us. My she be at peace in God's loving arms.

We count ourselves among the lucky dancers who've loved so many fun and creative Palmquist choreos.

We were more than delighted to join the many dancers from around the world who showered Audrey with Happy 100th Birthday greetings in July ... and much to our surprise, she graciously sent us back a cheery thank you card! "Keep dancing," she wrote in beautiful script.

Tho we never met either of them, their work brings such joy to any dance floor ... as you surely know.

Blessings from Eddie & Audrey came to us ... we share them with you ... her family and dear friends.
Thank you for this honor!

Peace and love to you all,
Tom & Susan Fraser : )
