Berta was very encouraging to everyone and I certainly experienced that when I was a young minister. I remember when she agreed to be the head of one of our Faith to Grow commissions at the Lakewood Congregation. She was always patient even when the rest of us were not quite sure what we were doing.
And I remember many times hearing her testimony of how she found the Compton Church and was "loved into the church" that we now call the Community of Christ. Her testimony will remain as a faithful memory.

Berta was a wonderfully positive person and always had something positive to say. I will miss her happy attitude.

Berta was a wonderful and devoted mother. She loved children so much that when her last child entered school Berta made a career out of caring for other people's children. When she retired, she lavished her growing ranks of grandchildren with even more attention now that she had more time.
The ultimate caregiver, she never ran out of love to spread around and made new friends everywhere she went. If you needed consoling, you called Berta - she always had a listening ear and a comforting word.
She loved animals and especially enjoyed spoiling her cat.
Berta emphasized healthy living and was a vibrant individual. She only began to slow down the last few months (due to her late stage heart disease).
She was an amazing woman and a great role model.
She is deeply missed.
