Bobbie was the second child of Sherman and Ima Ray Stevenson who both preceded her in passing. As a child she lived an active and playful life which included sports and farm activities. The former homecoming queen attended Alvarado High School where she would become a basketball star, and later would play at Prairie View A&M while pursuing a university degree in early childhood education.
In 1957 Bobbie would join in matrimony to Wilmer Eugene Winn of Mexia, Texas. To this union six natural children were born, and in the course of marriage adopted two other siblings. In 1958 Bobbie moved to Oceanside, California to be with her husband an enlisted marine at Camp Pendleton military base. Bobbie and her family have resided in Southern California for the past 52 years a portion of that in Pasadena, CA where she would join her husband and family as a longtime member of Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church. She had previously accepted Christ and was baptized as a young child.
Bobbie, a tireless advocate for helping those in need and the less fortunate would return to college while raising eight kids to earn a nursing degree allowing her to continue to help those sick, injured, or in need. Her nursing degree would lead her to gain employment and dedicate 29 years of service to Palm Harbor hospital in Garden Grove, before retiring in 2002.
It would be her wish to let those that may have never met her know that she loved God first, family and friends, the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers, while being a crossword puzzle guru. She simply loved to sit around with family and watch her beloved teams while the food was cooking and family and friends spent time together.
