I just found out of Dan's passing, and I am so sorry. He reallly changed the person I was and am today. He had the biggest heart, he was a "gentle giant" I will be forever grateful and sad. Monica (Butler) Swain (Tiny)

Dan you are going to be missed by so many. I am going to miss chatting with you. You always had a way of cheering people up. You were always positive about everything. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family, and though you are no longer here, you will never be forgotten.

I'm so fortunate that my last conversation with Dan was telling him how much I missed working for him and that he was one of my finest bosses. He was a kind and fair man who loved people, he made me feel like I was important as he did all of us, he was greatly missed when he left us and all that knew him surely missed his presence. Dan was very special, I'll never forget him.

Once you met Dan, you never forgot his smile or how important he made you feel about yourself. I first met Dan when he was the Manager is Sacramento, Ca. He and I had a friendly competition bewteen our terminals with the loser having to provide a Bar-B Que for the winning terminal. I was fairly new to the OD family and I am not going to say he threw the competition, but he certainly made me feel welcomed to the team. And the food that he brought down and personally served each and every one of the employees was absolutely fantastic. He had an infectous smile and a sense of humor that could bring a smile to you, even on your worst day.
Dan- You were loved by Many, and will be Missed by All.

What I will always remember about Dan was the way He made us all laugh at our ODFL managers meeting this past March. It was a part of him that I have never seen, but I am glad that I was able to see and be a part of it. Dan was always humble and never talked in a loud voice to anyone. I will miss this great man dearly!! Dan has touched many people lives and for that I am deeply grateful to have known him. My prayers and thoughts are with his family. May you rest in peace my friend.......

First of all, we are deeply saddened by the loss of this wonderful person and the family is in our thoughts and prayers. Over the years, Craig had mentioned what a genuinely nice guy Dan was and I got to experience that firsthand when I met him a couple of years ago. What I remember most was his ability to tune out the busy surroundings and focus his attention to you. He seemed to want to take the time to have a conversation with anyone he came in contact with. It was then that I realized what Craig meant. You will be missed.

Mr. Dan the Harley Man.
On Sept, 19 Old Dominion lost a great leader and a true friend to all. I lost a friend that I will never forget. I will remember you and I running back and forth from the Harley shop to your apt. on the south hill and the great Christmas and dinners we had together. Well Dan it is out of my hands now, God will have to get you your Harley up there and I know you won't be without one. Not sure if he has room for all 3 of your bikes. Keep everyone laughing up there as you did here. Take care Harley man.

Dear Brother Dan...I am so happy that I was able to spend that special time with you in July. It thrilled me beyond words when I walked into the room and you said, "my sister is here." I will forever hold in my heart our reminiscing about the past, and saying I love you to each other over and over. Thank you Lord that we will soon be reunited together in Heaven, where we will live forever and forever. Love, Your little sister
