Sebek (nee Curyea), Jeanne Marie, 82, a long time resident of Newport Beach, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2012 in San Clemente, California.
Born December 25, 1929, Jeanne spent her early years in Michigan before moving to California in high school. Jeanne and her husband Frank purchased a home in Newport Shores in 1961 where they raised their four children: Lynn (Bill) White, Jeff (Ann) Sebek, John (Debbie) Sebek, and Patti Fisher.
In her younger years, Jeanne could be found at the beach, chasing kids and sunshine, or driving her legendary '66 Oldsmobile Starfire down PCH. Despite having a strong dislike of having her photograph taken, Jeanne Marie in her youth looked like a true Hollywood beauty that would have charmed Sinatra or Presley, two of her favorite entertainers.
In her later years she loved taking walks, reading, visiting with neighbors, playing cards and tormenting her children and grandkids. What stood out most importantly in Jeanne's life were her four children. Because of her great care for them, she leaves a legacy of enormous love and laughter behind. She will be deeply missed by her children, their spouses, her brother, Mel Bentley, her honorary son, Michel Cochet and his daughter, Marine; her five grandchildren, Lesley (Jonathan) Miller, Scott (Lauren) Sebek, Allison Sebek, Lacy and Kaylee Fisher; and her one great granddaughter, Anna.
Although Jeanne liked to joke that she was sweet, humble, meek and mild; those close to her would agree she was tough as nails and always seemed to say-it-like-it-is. Her wit, humor and matter of fact attitude endeared her to all her family, friends and even those who crossed her path in everyday life. She never took herself too seriously; she enjoyed the small things in life. She had an amazing sense of humor, not to mention a lethal "choke hold" practiced routinely on family members (the lady had a grip!) who may have made the foolish mistake of questioning her wisdom.
Jeanne, we take great pleasure knowing Jesus easily found you at his gates-the twinkle in your eye can't be missed-and we imagine you shared a few of your very best jokes.
Thank you Jeanne for all your love, for being such a hilarious, fun loving, witty, always sarcastic and amusing mother, grandmother, sister and friend. May the laughter you brought to our lives live on through us all. You will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, Jeanne's family asks friends to drink a chocolate milkshake in her memory, and/or make a donation in Memory of Jeanne Sebek/Team Clampett/Doheny Walk www.alz.org/walk or Mail donation to:
