Lenore Eisenstein Obituary

Eisenstein, Lenore Honig, died January 8, 2011 after a short Illness. She lived a long, meaningful, and remarkable life. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and friend. Lenore was born in New York City and received her Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design from Pratt Institute. She then went on to receive her Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology and Education. She also completed her course work for her Doctoral degree. She was a strong believer in education. She started the Fashion Merchandising and Consumer Studies department at Los Angeles Harbor College, then went on to Los Angeles Trade Tech College to the Fashion Merchandising program and retired as Associate Dean of that program. In addition to her teaching, she spent more than 20 years giving enrichment lectures on cruise ships. Along with her husband, Bernard M. Eisenstein, who preceded her in death, she traveled around the world touching many people's lives with her lectures, in all, she took more than 165 cruises. Two years ago, she decided to put together many of her lectures and write a book. Not an easy task for anyone, but remarkable for someone In their 80's. The book, "The Essence of Your Presence", will keep her positive message alive. Even up to 2 months ago, she lectured at assisted living facilities and community centers locally. She is survived by two daughters, Helaine Lieberman (Michael) and Michele Evans (Michael); 3 grandchildren, Heather Boatman (John), Larry Lieberman (Julie), and Ehren Evans. She is also survived by one great-grandson Brayden Boatman. In addition, she is survived by numerous students who she referred to as "all my children" and numerous friends and family. Services were held Sunday, January 9 at Eden Memorial Park. A Memorial Service is being planned in Mission Viejo a time and date to be announced. I was saddened to hear about the passing of Lenore whom I had known for many years through the Los Angeles Chapter of Fashion Group International. Lenore's positive spirit will live on in her work and through all of the people she touched. I admired her for immensely. She was one-of-a-kind. My heartfelt sympathy to her two daughters and their families. She talked about you often with such pride.
