Margaret Smith Obituary

Smith, Margaret, passed away October 25, 2010 at her home in Brea, California surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Baltimore Maryland where she met and married her husband Bill Smith. Bill and Margaret then moved to California. They were married for 65 years until Bill passed in 2006. Most of their lives she and Bill lived in Montebello, California where they raised their twelve children. Margaret devoted herself to raising her children. Their home was filled with the sounds of her growing family and was always bustling with the coming and going of their many friends and neighbors. The old brick house on Fremont Square was their home for almost forty years. After their children moved on to raise their own families and after Bill retired from his family's business they moved to their new home in Brea. Their new home was the center of the growing family visited often by their children, their 24 grand children and 22 great grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and son, Gregory. She is survived by her daughters Karin (Barry) Garcia, Colleen (Ken) Noonan, Kathleen Bauer, Anna Maria (Michael) Douglass, Julia (Larry) Linza, Jacqueline (Douglass) Mork, Bridget (Larry) Dominguez and her sons Michael (Jeannie) Smith, Shawn (Lorena) Smith, Brian (Maria) Smith, and Kevin Smith. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church in La Habra on Thursday October 28 at 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery.

To Our Dearest Friends:
Our most cherished childhood memories are of the wonderful times spent with The Smiths. We were blessed to have your parents in our lives, and just last year I brought my mother to Brea to visit Mrs. Smith, they enjoyed the afternoon and shared lovely memories. We will miss her dearly and how through all these years she always managed to keep in touch. Our deepest sympathies, and prayers with you always.
Sincerely,
Leticia Guajardo-Ruidant

Mrs. Smith a loving, kind, amazing and sometimes funny mother, friend and partner. We grew up around her and her amazing HUGE family at Fremont Square, through the years we kept in touch even living in different countries at times. Last year I brought my mother to see her, the joy amongst them as they reminised, on the old days and their families was a blessing in itself. We will miss her laugh, words of wisdom and beautiful letters, but have faith she now Rests with Our Lord, and is near her loved ones. Rest in Peace. Love Always,

As I composed an email to explain to my employees why I would be gone from work today for a few hours it struck me. My Aunt Margie is an amazing woman. In today's world where the goal of 0 population growth is the culture, my aunt delivered and nurtured 12 children. Wow! The last time I saw Aunt Margie was about a year ago and I noticed how dificult it was for her to climb the steps to her house. I think of her today. She has a new body and she is with her loved ones and other saints. God is saying to her well done my good and faithful servant. Thank you Aunt Margie for your inspiration.
