Mary Buckie Obituary

Buckie, Mary Lenore Kent, 90, died peacefully at home in Huntington Beach on October 29, 2010, where she was lovingly cared for by her longtime caregiver Melanie Garcia and relief caregiver Teresa Verde. She is survived by daughter Lynne (Bob) Baker of Huntington Beach; son, John (Marisa Selfa) Buckie of Madrid, Spain; former daughter-in-law, Valerie Buckie; six grandchildren: Timothy (Tecla) Baker, Marianne (Jim) McLaughlin, and Kathleen (Greg) Angelovic, all of Huntington Beach; Molly (Ben) Pinder of Brooklyn, NY; Bridget (Michael) Quinn of Yokota AFB, Japan; and Patrick Buckie Selfa of Madrid; eleven great-grandchildren: Robbie, Matthew and Katie Baker; Jim, John, Joe, Jake and Shaunessy McLaughlin; Patrick, Sean and Bridget Angelovic; sister Jayne (Bud) Liptrot; brothers Thomas (Betty) and John (Vivian) Kent; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Patrick Kent Buckie, USNR, in 1968; and her husband John F. Buckie, Jr., in 1998. There will be a funeral service at SS. Simon and Jude Church, Huntington Beach, at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 5th, followed by a luncheon at Huntington Landmark clubhouse.

I know Aunt Mary is in heaven and if it is possible to be with your loved ones who have died, then she and Pat are together. I couldn't have asked for a better Aunt and also she is my confirmation sponsor. I looked to her for inspiration many times. She lived a true Christian life.
