MICKEY KAY MURPHY

Murphy, Mickey Kay September 30, 1924 – October 14, 2010 Mickey Murphy, passed away peacefully at age 86 on Thursday, October 14, 2010 with her husband Edward Murphy at her side. Mickey and Edward were married for 64 years and resided in Santa Ana, CA since 1957. Mickey was born in Staceyville, Iowa but moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota as a young child with her parents, Jack and Rose Lorbeski and her brothers, Charles and Billy. Mickey attended St. Anthony's girl's grammer and high school in Minneapolis and graduated in 1942. Mickey spent a couple of years in California working for Paramount Studios before moving back to Minnesota where she worked at Northern Ordinance "the Pump". Mom, an accomplished singer, sang duets at the Apollo club and with the Northern Ordinance band where she met Edward. They were married May 17, 1947. Mickey and Edward lived in Minnesota until 1957 and had 2 boys and 2 girls in Minnesota. Their fifth child, a boy, was born soon after moving to California. Mickey managed to work full time in Santa Ana California as a legal secretary and sing as a cantor at St. Anne's and Holy Family Catholic church. Besides her beautiful singing talent and strong faith, Mickey's favorite hobbies were painting, sketching, golfing and attending her children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's sporting events. The loving Matriarch of a family of 42, she is survived by her husband, Edward, and children, Mark, Colleen, Barbara, Kevin and Tim. Besides their children's spouses, Mickey and Ed have 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren to date. The rosary for Mickey will be at Brown Colonial Mortuary, 204 West 17th Street in Santa Ana at 3 pm, Sunday, October 17, 2010. The funeral will be at Holy Family Cathedral, 566 South Glassell Street in Orange at 12:10 pm, Monday, October 18, 2010. Mickey will rest in Holy Sepulcher cemetery in Orange. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Vincent DePaul or the Villa Recovery home in Santa Ana. Brown Colonial Mortuary
