RALPH CARLTON

Obituary Condolences

Carlton, Ralph, passed away in Orange, CA at the age of 91 on Monday, November 26th. He was the son of Cash and Addie Carlton of Pittsburgh, KN. Ralph was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa on July 12, 1921. His family moved to California around 1929 and settled in the Santa Monica area. He attended Santa Monica High School and Sawyer Business College. After serving in the Navy during WWII he went to work at Douglas Aircraft Co. in Santa Monica where he later met his wife, Toni. Ralph and Toni were married in 1964 and they moved to Orange in 1965. Ralph retired in 1982 from Douglas Aerospace (now Boeing) as Director of Logistics Engineering. Ralph and Toni celebrated their 48th anniversary this month. A friendly rivalry between USC and UCLA continued throughout their marriage. They enjoyed many weeks vacationing together with family and friends at their Lawrence Welk time share in Escondido and at their cabin in Big Bear. Ralph loved driving his motor home and he and Toni made several long trips including visiting friends in Cody, Wy., Vancouver, Canada, and San Diego. A two month road trip to the east coast and back in 2006 resulted in treasured memories. Ralph's family was his number one priority. He loved working in the yard and playing gin rummy and bridge and also Texas Hold'em with the grandchildren. He is the last of his six siblings and survived by his wife, Toni; six children Teral, Richard, Joann, Lori, Ronald and Sherri and 10 grandchildren, Ken, Brandon, Caylee, Taylor, Samantha, Claudia, Sarah, Ryan, Jacob and Sam. His two Siberian Hiskies, Sitka and Miya were a great joy. Ralph bravely underwent a hip replacement in August but complications following that surgery could not be overcome. Arrangements are by the Neptune Society and Internment will be at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana. A memorial service is pending.
