Richard Baker Obituary

Baker, Richard Martin, 69, passed away on 9/13/10 after a courageous 3 year battle with brain cancer. He was born on 12/29/40 in St. Louis, MO to James and Mary Baker, where he lived until his family moved to California when he was 15 yrs. old. After graduating from Cal State Northridge he joined the U.S. Navy and developed a love for travel. He then embarked on his career as a yacht broker and boat builder which became his passion for the next 40 years. His love for travel and adventure provided wonderful family vacations for many years to many destinations, of which the most loved was the time spent cruising the waters of the San Juan Islands. His attitude of gratitude endeared him to all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joanne; son, Patrick (Mary); daughters, Vanessa (Matt) and Valerie (Myk); granddaughter, Nicole, and brother Jim, (Carolyn). A memorial service will be held on Sunday 9/26/10 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews-by-the Sea in San Clemente followed by a reception to celebrate a life well lived.

Joanne,

My condolences to you and your family. I know Rick's passing will leave an impossible gap to fill. Since I just yesterday heard of this sad event and am currently out of state traveling I am unable to attend his memorial. I would however appreciate the opportunity for us to reminisce.
