RUBY FRANCES MARYLAND GREENE CARSON

Carson, Ruby Frances Maryland Greene 9/19/125 - 11/6/2010 Ruby was the first child born to Robert and Pearl Greene in Selma, NC. At the early age of 5, she was already caring for two of her siblings, while her parents worked in the mill. She continued this until her high school graduation. As a depression era survivor, she well knew how to work hard and save. In 1942, while employed at an aircraft manufacturing plant in Burlington, NC she met the love of her life, Haskel Edward "Ed" Carson. They were married in 1946 after his discharge from the Navy after WWII. During the early years of their marriage, she worked as a telephone operator for Bell South, while also being wife, mother, and study partner for Ed as he worked his way through college. Ruby was known by family and friends as a generous and gracious Southern girl who worked hard to make everyone comfortable and welcome in her home. As her nest emptied, she returned to the work force at Knott's Berry Farm as a quality assurance taster for jams and jellies. She loved it right up to the day she retired. Her beloved husband predeceased her on 5/6/2010 and he will be waiting with open arms. Just as in life, she kept him waiting, just not too long. Her survivors include, daughter, Betty Sue and her husband Jerry Alvis; son, Michael Edward and his wife Tammy; and grandchildren, Steve Masters, Amy Carson and Emily Carson. Private services will be held at Hilgenfeld Mortuary on Friday, November 12th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Ruby's memory. Hilgenfeld Mortuary
