MRS. SALLY FARTHING KANAGA

SALLY KANAGA Obituary

Kanaga, Mrs. Sally Farthing 1915-2010 The Kanaga Family is mourning the loss of our mother, Sally F. Kanaga, who was 95 years old at her death on September 9, 2010. She was the oldest daughter of the late Illinois Supreme Court Justice, Paul Farthing and his wife, Harriet, of Belleville, Illinois. Mom was a graduate of Boston University and earned her teaching credential at the Claremont Colleges. She taught elementary school for 20 years, and then retired to a life of travel, Oriental brush painting, and of course, reading. She is survived by her four children: Keith Kanaga (Katherine) of NYC, Sally Kanaga of Los Angeles, Sandy K. Hayhurst of San Diego, and Sue K. Carpenter of Huntington Beach; as well as 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, friends can honor her by making a donation to Amnesty International or the Southern Poverty Law Center. No memorial service is planned.
