While researching Sam's career today I was saddened to learn that he had passed away almost exactly a year ago. Apart from his many accomplishments, I think I admire him most for his great humility and his successful marriage and family life. I send out my condolences and best wishes to all his relatives and friends.

Singing Sam was a good man and a fine inspector. Always a gentleman and respectfully to all. Started out my time with Orange County, working with Sam. He will be missed and he could really sing well. He was always full of humor and loved to laugh. my condolences to the family.

Some of my fondest memories were at a ball room where Cal's Corral was televised in the LA area. Every Sunday on the balcony, I would sit with a lady named Lucile. She had fiery red hair and would always make sure I had a coke in hand when I watched my dad Sammy Masters perform and MC the program. It was also a thrill to go back stage and see some of the great singers and musicians of today who appeard with my dad including a beautiful lady (Princess Ramona) dressed up in Indian costume and what a time I had dancing the twist with my cousin's on the ball room floor. There are many other memories with my dad I will never forget. I'd like to thank Mr. Timmers for remembering my dad and putting him into the Hall of Fame record.

I worked with Singing Sam at his brother's soils company in 1970. He was colorful. We worked on building the larger lake at Lake Forest, El Toro.

Sam was a co-worker of mine and others at the County of Orange during the 80's and 90's as a Construction Inspector for the Grading Section. He was a "by the book" inspector with a huge sense of humor, a big bag of jokes, and a prankster in his own right. There are many funny stories I can recall. He made an otherwise stressful & political job fun. We will miss him. Here's a couple of photos back in 1983 at the County.
