Steven Young Obituary

Young, Dr. Steven D. DDS, beloved husband, father and grandfather died at home on September 13, 2010 from complications of Lung and Liver Cancer. He was born in San Diego, CA, on December 12 1939. He graduated from San Diego High School in 1957 where he lettered in Golf. He attended the University of Southern California on an academic scholarship and graduated from USC Dental School in 1964. He married Kathleen Kenney on August 7, 1965 in Glendale, Ca and moved to Placentia, CA in 1973 where they raised their three children. Although baptized into the Presbyterian Church, Steve raised his children Catholic, the religion of his wife and was very proud of his conversion into the faith late in his life. While dentistry was his chosen profession, "Papa" loved to tinker in the garage, share ice cream with the grandkids and read Clive Cussler novels. Steve is survived by his wife, Kathleen; children: Andrew and wife, Cynthia, Jill and husband Salvatore, and Daniel; grandchildren, Catherine, Jacob, Claire, Nicholas, Samuel and Emma; and siblings: Richard, Patricia and Nancy. Funeral will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church on Thursday, September 16 at 10:30 AM, with a reception to follow at the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Daughters of Mary and Joseph Retirement Fund, 5300 Crest Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. 90275. McAulay & Wallace Mortuary
