Sue Geier Obituary

Geier, Sue S., of San Juan Capistrano, age 92, went to her heavenly home on August 15th. She passed on at a nursing facility from complications from emphysema. Sue was born and raised in Chicago, the second daughter of David and Sophie Altergott. She was a devoted wife, kind and loving mother, and a caring friend to many. She was generous with her time, money, counsel and sense of humor. Throughout her life, her kind and loving manner brought joy and comfort to untold numbers of people. Her smile would light up a room and all she smiled upon. Preceded in death by her husband, Clifford. Survived by her loving family, son, Brian; brother, Edwin Altergott; nephews, John Baublits, Keith and Kirk Altergott, Howard and David Geier, Michael and Richard Vana; nieces, Linnette Benson (Altergott), Linda Childers (Altergott), Vicky Burbridge (Vana), Ginny Sue Tumminaro (Vana), Jeff, Bridget, Trinity and Keelan Baublits, Julie, Joey, Aiden and Hayes Broccardo. Affectionately called Aunt Sue by Ray, Anthony and Tricia Adreani , and Jessica, Christin, Stephanie and Natalie Knitter. A Celebration of Life will be held at Capo Beach Calvary, Sunday, September 26 at 2:00 pm, interment at Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago. A memorial service will be held at Eden Church in Sept. 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorials to EDEN UCC Forget Me Not Fund, 5051 W. Gunnison, Chicago, 60630.

I worked for Sue at Jefferson State Bank back in the lates 1970's. She was my mentor. I have thought about her over the years & wondered how she was. She was a great lady. I am glad to have known her. So sorry for your loss. Cathy (Armstrong) Ruther

As we grew out of our college years, those of us who had a great friendship with Brian also began having a great friendship with Mom Sue. She was an amazing and caring woman. I am so glad to have known her. Rozie Heyser
