Just saw this and feel so sad. Mr. Lankford was my 5th grade teacher at Haskell (1960-1961). We had remained in contact until his move to the ocean area. He was such a great teacher! I became a preschool teacher later in my life and taught my kids songs he taught us to sing. My heart goes out to the family. I remember Virginia Hatfield too.

To Wib's Family- Remembering your very special father and grandfather who was so very proud of his family--We all miss him so much. He was a sweet caring man with a heart of gold. His brilliant intellect gave him the deep desire to continue to gain knowledge and experience life to the fullest. He was able to fullfil his desire to travel around the world beginning in the 1960's and had another trip planned for 2011. He used the computer daily to research the latest information, news, sports statistics and investments. On Tuesdays he was excited to continue playing (and winning) bridge with his long time Men's Group. Music was so much a part of his daily life. He listened to it morning and night.
For all of us who were privileged to know him--he has enriched our lives and given us joy and happiness. He wanted to go peacefully, knowing his
loved ones would be strong as they
cherish the memories of the moments we
were all able to share with him while he was here. Being together at Janndee and Brent's wedding made him so happy.
He was so thankful he could spend his last years living by the beach in Corona Del Mar.
We all miss you, Wib and send our love.

We are so thankful that Wib was a part of our lives. Your family is so blessed to have had such an amazing father and grandfather with you for so many years. But, it is never long enough for those left behind. We, too, will miss him so much, until we see him again one day. You are also blessed to be so close to one another for the needed support and love you share. We hope we can stay close, along with my mom, who loved him dearly, too.

We will miss Wib being a part of our lives until we see him again some day. We are so thankful that we could be with all of the family and with my mom, Virginia, during this difficult time. It is a blessing that you are all so close to one another to share your ongoing love and support. Wib was one in a million!
Love to you all,
