Anderson, Paul Norman,

an unwaveringly devoted family man, avid painter, early Laguna Beach lifeguard and 22-year member of the South Coast Water District board died Wednesday at Mission Hospital. He was 84.

Anderson was born May 4, 1927, in Los Angeles and graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 1945. He loved being at the beach and in nature. He surfed, was a lifeguard, loved camping in the mountains and desert, and was a skilled fisherman. He was also a very talented painter and would paint pictures of the ocean and scenes from his many camping trips.

He attended the University of Southern California from 1949-1952 and graduated with a B.S. He also got an A.A. from Santa Ana College, and CLU, ChFC, and AEP from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Penn.

Anderson served in the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Army. In WWII he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, president and director of the South Coast Water District board, and was appointed to the Orange County Board of Education in 1971.

He worked with Connecticut General Life Insurance for 25 years and New England Financial for 13 years. In 2001 he retired and devoted his time to taking care of his wife who suffered from Parkinson's disease.

Anderson is survived by his wife Beverly Jeanne Badham Anderson; sons, Dale, Garrick, Norman, Kent and daughter, Teri Anderson Schoepe; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

His celebration of life will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park Chapel, 3500 Pacific View Dr., Corona Del Mar, CA on Monday Nov. 28 at 2:00 p.m.
