Frank "Bud" Bowling Jr.

Obituary Condolences

Bowling, Jr., Frank "Bud," passed away December 18, 2009, age 89. Bud was born in Miami, AZ, September 19, 1920 to Frank and Florence Bowling. He grew up in the tough mining town of Bisbee, Arizona, with four sisters (Leona, Florence, Mercedes, and Mary Anne) and one brother (Dan). He learned that hard work was the only way to survive. Soon after graduation from Bisbee High School, Bud moved to San Pedro and met Margie Parkinson. They married on January 9, 1943. Because of the war, Bud enlisted in the Coast Guard, serving in the Pacific theater, and his first son, Tommy, was born. Bud and Margie's second son, Kenneth, came after the war. Bud was a cement contractor in the South Bay for over 30 years. He was well known for his strong work ethic. Bud and Margie lived in Westminster for many years. Bud's pride and joy were his grandchildren, Camille and Scott. He never missed any of Camille's soccer games and life events, and spent countless hours helping Scott develop his love of baseball. Bud was a well known assistant coach, spectator and handyman for WGGLL and Pacifica High School baseball. Bud was devastated when Margie passed away in April, 2006. Bud is survived by his brother, Dan (Lois); his sons, Tommy and Ken (Tracey); grandchildren, Camille (Lance) and Scott. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Services will be Wednesday, December 23, at 1:00 p.m. Green Hills Memorial Park Chapel, Rancho Palos Verdes.
