DONALD ROBBINS Obituary
Robbins, Jr, Donald Edward,

Tustin, CA. Born on Oct. 23, 1953 in Bangor, Maine, passed away on July 30, 2012 surrounded by his family. Don was the eldest son of Donald and Rosemary Robbins, SR. He served his country in the Air Force and while there acquired a love of volleyball which he played at UC Berkeley and CSU Long Beach and continued competing and playing locally until his health no longer permitted a strenuous game. Don traveled to many foreign places as an International Contracts Negotiator and had many tales of customs in far away places.

Don enjoyed cooking gourmet meals for family and friends and after spending hours cooking a special dish would immediately discard it if he did not achieve the exact flavor he wanted while everyone waiting for his concoction was salivating on just the aromas. Many parties were held around the kitchen while he cooked. Many years he tried to win the annual family chili cook off at the family ranch in Temecula but friends tinkering with his chili, because he tinkered with theirs, prevented a win. He was an excellent photographer once capturing a series of cloud formations of a dragon eating the setting sun which made a very spectacular print. Teasing his nieces and nephews always got them laughing and he enjoyed them very much. He was proud that he got to carry the Olympic Torch for a mile in the 1984 summer games in LA.

Don is survived by his parents, brothers Jeff (Mary), Mike (Cris) Steven (Pam) and sister, Sherri (Jim) Pastor; his nieces, Elizabeth Tilden Sanzaro, Ashley Robbins Wiess, Colleen Pastor, Chandler Robbins and his nephews Matt Robbins, Nathan Robbins, Austin Robbins a special friend Debbie Capalety and his dearly loved Aunt Jane Sanborn Ice. He was predeceased by his favorite uncle George Ice.

The family thanks the very special Dr. Timothy Morgan of the Long Beach VA for his kindness and excellent care of Don during his lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
