After a courageous battle with ALS, James Thomas Stalter, 38, surrounded by his family, passed away in Tustin, CA on November 14th, 2012. Mr. Stalter is survived by his wife of ten years, Kelsey Huddleston Stalter; son, James Prentiss Stalter; daughter, Grace Brennan Stalter; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Rick Stoyanoff; sister, Marielle May, all residing in Orange County; and his brother, Andrew Stoyanoff of New York City, New York.
James attended Irvine High School in Irvine, CA and graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina, with a B.S. degree in Biological Science and received a J.D. degree from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, CA. Prior to his illness, he was a partner in the law firm of Stalter & Pentis in Orange, CA.
After his diagnosis, James and his family did not waste a day; they enjoyed life and each other to the fullest. Numerous family trips were taken to Disneyland, Legoland, The San Diego Zoo, Napa Valley, Monterey and Big Bear Lake in California, Atlantis in the Bahamas, and James' favorite spot of all - St. Teresa, Florida. James and Kelsey renewed their marriage vows on a trip to the Cayman Islands in 2010.
James will be remembered for his keen intellect, easy going manner, quick wit and as a loving son, father and husband. The family expresses special thanks to the Sierra Vista Middle School in Irvine, CA, where Kelsey teaches Science, for providing almost daily meals and generous contributions to the family. The family would also like to recognize the Orange County ALS Association and VITAS Hospice of Orange County for their support.

A memorial service will be held at Saddleback Chapel in Tustin, CA on Saturday, November 17th, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
