Elsie Butler was born to parents of Swedish decent on February 9, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois.
She committed her life to the Lord Jesus at a Billy Graham Crusade in Chicago while she was attending teachers college. She and her friends drove to California after graduation, and she met her husband-to-be at a church gathering. Elsie and Norman were married the next year in 1953.
Elsie and Norm lived in Long Beach, Anaheim and Tustin.
She was an elementary school teacher in Orange, California for 20 years, after raising her children. She lived a busy, active life teaching piano part time, serving in church and Sunday School, volunteering as a docent at Heritage Hill Museum and also a volunteer Poll Monitor. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, square dancing, line dancing, aerobics, hiking and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, who died December, 2010.
She is survived by her sons, Wesley (Deborah), John (Julie), Ralph (Stacy); daughter, Arlene (Chuck Stanfield); 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. To the end of her years, Elsie was consistently grateful to God for the blessings and opportunities in her life.
Memorial Service will be at Calvary Church of Santa Ana, CA on November 24, 2012, at 11:00 am.
