Larwood, Robert "Bob" Charle, 76, of Dana Point, California, passed away at home peacefully in the presence of his family on Sunday, December 23, 2012. He bravely fought Parkinson's disease for 15 years, and for the past year, Melanoma Cancer.|
Bob was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 26, 1936. He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Long Beach State College.
Bob was married to Mela Chavez on April 12, 1958. He enjoyed running, dancing, diving, camping, and most of all, spending time with his family and grandchildren. His favorite places were Catalina Island, Yosemite, and Dana Point, his home of 45 years. He spent many years working to save the Dana Point Headlands for open space and public access to the beach. He also enjoyed working with the first St. Edwards Youth Group. His favorites sayings were: "keep the faith", "my wife is a saint", "I'll dance at your wedding day", "you've earned another golden brick on your house in heaven", and "I'm having a very good day!".
Bob worked as a Sales Rep for publishing companies for 25 years. He taught High School in Compton, Avalon, Catalina, and Santa Ana, California.
Bob will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Mela; 8 children and their spouses: Lisa and Mark Lowerison, Bob and Terrie Larwood, Charlie and Allie Larwood, Danny and Tara Larwood, Michelle and Tim Sheehan, Bill and Michelle Larwood, Ann Marie and Mike Marino, and Joe and Julie Larwood, his 16 grandchildren: Ben, Reef, Zane, Mariah, Julianna, Teak, Trey, Amelia, Michael, Bobby, Abby, Olivia, Addie, Justin, Joe and Liam; his brother, Ed; his brothers and sisters-in-law; his 47 nieces and nephews; as well as his many dear friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma Larwood, and sisters, Mary Deutsch and Arlene Jordan.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at St. Edwards the Confessor in Dana Point, California. Burial will follow the funeral at Ascension Cemetery in El Toro, California.
