DANIEL LEWIS CLAYPOOL Obituary
Claypool, Daniel Lewis

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

Dan passed away peacefully at home with his family on Thursday, December 13th, 2012. He leaves behind Carol, his wife of 53 years and his 5 children, daughters, Dana Patton and Caryn Esquivel and his sons, Daniel Jr., Christopher and Douglas Claypool; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Elmer and Alberta Mae Claypool. He also leaves behind his brothers, Philip and twin, David Claypool; and sister, Roberta Calder.

Dan will be most remembered for the love for his family, his lifelong commitment to the Boy Scouts of America, for his dedication to Community Service as a Mentor and Counselor to the Orange Police Department Explorer Post and as a celebrated Volunteer to the Orange Police Department for 15 years.

Dan was a retired Quality Assurance Engineer for Hughes Aircraft, a Navy Veteran and a decorated Eagle Scout. He joined Troop 241 (Orange) in 1980 and became Scoutmaster in 1981 and stayed active with the troop until his passing. During his tenure with Troop 241 he received the highest award Scouting can bestow, the "Silver Beaver Award". Through his Community Service to the City of Orange he was also the recipient of the "Man of Character" Award.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, February 16th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Orange at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Daniel Lewis Claypool Memorial Scholarship Fund.
