Darrell Wendell Greenwald, age 90, of Santa Ana, CA, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013. Viewing will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana on Sat., February 23 from 2 to 6 pm. Memorial services will be held in the sanctuary of Orange County First Assembly Church, 1440 E. Santa Clara in Santa Ana, California, on Sunday, February 24 at 6:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery.
Darrell was born July 11, 1922 in Santa Ana, CA. He married the former Charlotte Morrow-Tanis who survives him. In addition he is survived by his sister, Marilyn Allis, 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
During his life he served in the Navy during WWII as a machinist on a repair tender ship. He was an orchardist taking care of many citrus and avocado groves throughout Orange County. He became a school teacher for the Orange Unified School District when the decline of citrus hit Orange County. He became a real estate broker when he retired from teaching.
He loved the Lord Jesus. He was a Sunday School Teacher and worked with youth at his church. He loved singing and sang in the bass section of the church choir with his son and father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Teen Challenge, 1440 E. Santa Clara, Santa Ana, CA 92705. This was a ministry that was dear to his heart. Fairhaven Mortuary directing.
