Diliberto, Melody D. (nee Lane), was born April 9, 1955, in Long Beach, California. She died at age 57 on March 6, 2013, at her home in Lebanon, Illinois surrounded by her loving family. Her death resulted from the cancer that she had successfully battled for 27 years. |
On September 15, 1973, Melody married Joseph A. Diliberto of Garden Grove, CA. Melody attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. Joe and Melody's years in the United States Air Force took them from California to Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, and Texas. When Joe retired in 2000, they chose to stay in the quaint midwest town of Lebanon, Illinois, just outside of St. Louis, Missouri.
Compassion and love for all living things help define Melody's years. She shared almost 40 years of loving marriage with Joe. She shared fully with her children, Amanda and Adam, including years of Scouting leadership, room mothering, and Band Boosters. Melody naturally made neighbors, friends, and each person she knew feel special. She loved working in the yard, gardening, and enjoyed all of the out-of-doors. No part of nature was too small for her to notice. From the smallest earthworm to the birds at her feeders, to her passion for animal rescue, nothing was ever too small or unimportant for Melody's love.
Melody is survived by her husband, Joe of Lebanon, Illinois; children, Amanda (& Tyler) Daniels of El Paso, Texas, and Adam (& Larissa) Diliberto of Swansea, Illinois; and grandchildren, Aria Bella and Giuliana Daniels. Her parents, Walter Lane of Downey, California and Opal Cornelius of Garden Grove, California, also survive.
A memorial service was held celebrating Melody's life on Saturday, March 16th at the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis (2320 Pine Street, St. Louis, MO 63103) or to
