Gilson, William Albert, age 78, a 50 year resident of the City of Orange, passed away on April 8th, 2013 from prostate cancer.|
He was Born June 6th, 1934 in Landour, Mussourie, India to Baptist Missionary parents, John and Alice Gilson. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was most proud of and known by many in the community for his 42 years as an educator for the Orange Unified School District; 29 years as a teacher of Middle School English, History and the GATE program and 13 years as a Middle school and High School Counselor. He went by the motto that "You must respect the student". From 1965 to 1973 he also worked for the Orange YMCA as Assistant Program Director and Director if Indian Guides and Maidens. During which he was able to share many wonderful times with his 5 children on winter camp trips to the San Gorgonio Mountains and beach camp in Oceanside. He was a patient husband and father. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mari Anna Gilson, October 11th, 2009. He is survived by his sisters, Ruth and Louis; brother, John; his 5 children, Liz, Julia, Tom and twins Alice and Louise; his 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thomas and Jaime Marie; and his 3 great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Sophia and Ashley. There will be no memorial service or Funeral. He will be interred at the Riverside National Cemetery. William has requested that donations be made to the
