In Loving Memory of|
Doezie, Robert "Bob"
December 8, 1932 - September 20, 2013
A devoted and much loved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Bob left us much too soon on Friday, September 20, 2013 after a hard-fought four year battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was the fifth born son of Johannes "John" and Cornelia Doezie from Holland. A long-time resident of Newport Beach, Bob grew up in Los Angeles. Bob served in the US Navy with the Sea Bees' at the US Naval Base in Subic Bay, Philippines as a Damage Controlman Second Class during the Korean War. After the Korean War, Bob joined the L.A. County Fire Department and served in the county at various fire stations for twenty-two years, retiring from the fire department as an Engineer. Bob always loved the ocean. He was an avid sailor who built his own thirty-seven foot Crealock sailboat, and sailed / traveled around the world with various members of his family throughout his life, passing his love for the ocean to his children. Bob was a licensed contractor who has built many projects including his own home and some apartment buildings. Always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to all his family and friends for all their various projects, many a fond memory was made with Bob wearing his tool belt. First and foremost a family man, the family was extremely important to Bob, he took great joy in attending and celebrating all his grandchildren's events, games and accomplishments. Bob was preceded in death by his first-born son, Billy; his parents, John and Cornelia, his sisters, Corie, Dorothy and Betty; and his brother, John. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandy Doezie; daughters, Janine and Annie (husband John); sons, James (wife Judy) and Jon (wife Lisa); step-daughters, Christina (husband Dan) and Kellyann (husband Rob); grandchildren, Christopher, Jamie (fiancé Seth), Robin (fiancé Jake), Tyler (fiancée Natasha), Conner (wife Je'Lynn), Ryan, Ashleigh, Myah, Jacob, Emilee, Ava, Cristal, Rose, Bo and James; and great-granddaughter, Macie. A good, kind, gentle, and loving man, Bob Doezie will be sorely missed by all that have been blessed with knowing him. Funeral arrangements will be made by Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary.
