After beating lung, prostate and colon cancer, Jim Blataric peacefully passed away on December 25, 2013 with family by his side.

Jim was born December 27, 1927 in Medina, Ohio to Priscilla and Anthony Blataric. Two months after his 17th birthday, he joined the US Coast Guard and served his country in WWII where he was awarded several medals for his service.

After moving to California in the 1950's, he worked in several positions and finally settled in as a tile installer for Continental Tile & Marble. After retiring from Continental at age 65, and not being one to sit at home, he spent the next 10 years as a security guard for CADE. Jim was an avid golfer and bowler, and worked his way through the chairs at Santa Ana's Elk's Lodge 794 and served as Exalted Ruler from 1988-1989.

Jim built many lifelong friendships and instilled the value of hard work and dedication to his family. He spent his final years with his beloved wife, Sandy, and his #1 companion, Cody.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Anthony; his mother, Priscilla; and brothers, David and Rudy. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandy; son, Dennis; daughter, Vicki; son, David; 7 grandchildren, Jason, Kelli, Nick, Kady, Sara, Rachel, Renee; 3 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.

A private graveside memorial was held on January 2, 2014 at Conejo Mountain Cemetery, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, CA 93012.
