The Captain like to fish, we went fishing. We went fishing quite a few times. Got chewed out one time for not inviting him on one of my fishing trips.

I had the great pleasure of serving with Commander Skillman at the Naval Communications Station, Balboa, Canal Zone from 1968 until his departure in 1970. He was a true gentleman who was well respected by his subordinates. My deepest condolonces to the Skillman family.

I served under CDR Skillman when he was Commanding Officer of Naval Communications Station Balboa Panama and I was then a chief radioman. He was a great CO. I know of no sailor who did not like him. He has crossed the bar into calm waters. May he rest in peace.
