Julie Wright Obituary

Wright, Julie Drake 65 April 20, 1950 Aug. 01, 2015 Julie Drake Wright, 65, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, from the effects of her battle with cancer. Julie's parents lived in Burlingame, Calif., at the time of her birth. The family later moved to Lake Oswego, where they lived on the Willamette River. After graduating from Lake Oswego High School and attending Lewis & Clark College, she struck out to "see the world." Julie's love of travel and curiosity about other cultures took her all over the world. Julie and her husband, Tom, took their mutual love of the water and diving to Belize and Santa Fe, N.M., where they taught and guided other divers. Julie and Tom were accomplished underwater photographers as well, chronicling the amazing sea life wherever they dove. In later years, living on Hayden Island, Julie called the view from her home "therapy," feeling that the sound and view of the water was all she needed to feel well. Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Tall; parents, Richard and Harriet Wright; and sister, Nancy B. Hays. Julie is survived by her brother, Richard B. Wright of Winter Haven, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Jean Hays Brady (Albert), Sally Hays Riedi, James W. Hays (Fran Willis) and Thomas R. Hays; great-nieces and nephews, Kristen A. Riley (Erin), Caitlin O'R. Brady, Adam C. Riedi and Andrew A. Riedi; great-great-niece and nephew, Lillian M. Riley and Tucker J. Riley; and tabby cat of 18 years, Tigger. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Gerald Segal, the nursing and support staff on 6 SW at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center, the Pastoral Care and Palliative Care teams, Ted and Mary Franklin, and all Julie's friends and neighbors who have been so supportive of her needs during these last months and years. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, in the Legacy Good Samaritan Chapel on the third floor. Julie requests that any donations be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by After Care in Gresham.

Julie was a high school friend who was quiet, kind, and fun. We shared many good times together, and I was sad to hear of her passing.
