Barbara Houpt "Bobbie" Strickland

Strickland, Barbara Houpt "Bobbie" November 7, 1932-May 13, 2013, 80, is now in heaven, experiencing the final outcome of her faith in Jesus Christ. Born Lakeland, FL, Bobbie is survived by her two sons, Danny Strickland and his wife, Cookie, and Donald Strickland and his wife, Vivian. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marie Lee. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr.V.W. Strickland, Jr., and her daughter, Linda Chrysler. Bobbie loved her family and loved to serve the Lord. She continued to teach 4-5 year old children at her church, Eastpoint Fellowship, as recent as Easter Sunday. She participated in numerous mission trips to several different countries, including helping lead youth camp in Romania many times. Bobbie will be remembered for her loving heart and her spirit of perseverance. Battling chronic health issues for years, she never let that stop her from serving others and being an encouragement to people everywhere. She looked out for others and esteemed others more highly than she did herself. Her example will be a legacy that lives through the lives of others for decades to come. Because of her passion for the ministry in Romania, her sons request that for those desiring to give a memorial gift, donations be made to Eastpoint Fellowship for Romania Youth Camp 2013. Her funeral service will be this Saturday, May 18 at 10 AM, at Eastpoint Fellowship, 15060 Old Cheney Highway, Orlando 32828. Her son, Danny, who is the Senior Pastor of Eastpoint, will lead the service. Visitation will be Friday at Eastpoint from 6-8 PM. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery.
