DOWNING, CAITLIN PRESLEY,
earned her angel wings on November 11, 2012, following a yearlong battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. She died swiftly and peacefully, surrounded by loving family. While Caitlin was only five years old, her life and her light shined on many and touched in ways that most people never could. Her radiant smile, love for life and laughter, and ability to show unconditional acceptance and kindness will continue to live on in our hearts. Her courage and bravery during her fight against cancer never wavered, and she was able to find only positive and funny things to say every time someone asked her about her illness or treatments. Caitlin reminded everyone who heard her story to live life fully, never take a moment for granted and love those around you. Our hearts are broken and we will desperately miss the gentle sass, tight hugs, and kind and caring spirit that made Caitlin all she was during her time on Earth. We will hold rainbows as a symbol of a promise, that she is healed and playing and laughing once again. And we will remember. Caitlin is survived by her parents, Jeff and Denise Downing; sister, Courtney, brother, Cole, and sister, Campbell; also grandparents uncles, aunt and many friends. A Gathering will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 6 to 8PM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 2021 W. St Rd. 426 Oviedo, FL 32765. A Memorial Service will be Friday, November, 16, 2012 at 12 Noon at the Church. We are asking that no one wear black or navy blue...any other color of the rainbow is fine! I just want everyone to remember her spirit and her outlook on life and all the good she brought, and the positive lessons she taught us in quiet ways. In our efforts to continue the battle against a horrible disease, we made preparations and donated Caitlin's brain and spinal column to be used in Dr. Mark's fight. We have asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Caitlin's treasured and beloved Dr. Mark and his continued efforts and research to find a cure for DIPG. Checks can be made payable to: WCMC Department of Neurological Surgery Mailed to: Dr. Mark Souweidane c/o Ms Ana
