Edna Marie Andersen BEAVO

ANDERSEN, 94, of Longwood, FL, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Joseph. Mrs. Beavo was a dedicated mother to four children, Joseph (Kay) Beavo of Seattle, WA, Katherine (Allen) Bryan of Longwood, Susan (Wallace)
Stalnaker of Longwood, and Joanne (Lawrence) Adams of Winter Park. She had 11 grandchildren, Allison, Scott, Katie, Andy, Marie, Rob, Jennifer, Julie, Tyson, Travis, and Chelsey. She was additionally blessed with 14 great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Irene Peale,
Margaret Cooper Read, Maryanne Purcell and brother John Andersen also survive her. Edna was born on March 24, 1918 in Mediapolis, IA. She spent her childhood in Burlington, later moving on to study at the University of Northern Iowa, where she met her husband Joe. In 1957, her family relocated to Fort Myers, FL where her love of children and a family devotion to education led her to open a preschool. She enjoyed cooking, music, traveling and fishing with Joe. After retirement she and Joe moved to Central Florida to be near family and for a number of years maintained a second residence close to their son in Seattle. In her later years, she volunteered her time teaching music at Markham Woods Academy.
Edna was a charter member of the PEO Sisterhood and a member of Markham Woods Presbyterian Church. A memorial Service in her honor will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, 1:30 PM at Baldwin
Fairchild, Ivanhoe Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
