EDWARD MUSGRAVE Obituary

MUSGRAVE, EDWARD GEORGE, 78, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2010 into the arms of Jesus, his Savior. He was born March 28, 1932 in Newark, NJ and lived in Brick, NJ until moving to Orlando in 1984. His faith in God, family and friendships were of highest priority in his life. He graduated with a BS degree from Muhlenberg College, PA and a MS degree, Montclair College, NJ. Most of his life was dedicated to education. He taught history but spent most of his education experience in administration, first at Brick HS, Brick, NJ, later as Headmaster at Central Jersey Christian School, Asbury Park, NJ and in 1984, Headmaster at Pine Castle Christian Academy in Orlando, FL. He also spent years as a town councilman in Brick, NJ. Upon retiring from his work in education, he was a partner in real estate at Higgins and Heath with his wife Ellie until 1999. He was a proud volunteer at Orlando Health in the Spiritual Care Ministry and he loved to visit the Russell Home in Orlando, bringing them essentials they always seemed to need. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellie; and his children, Diana Morgan (Bill), Karin Hammond (Mark) and Jeff Musgrave (Shannon); and his grandchildren, Brittany, Luke and Alyssa Morgan, Brooke, Nolan and Rylee Hammond and Olivia
Musgrave, and John, Marissa and Ian McGregor. He is also survived by his twin brother Frank Musgrave (Eva Mae) of Candor, NY. A Memorial Service will be held at Discovery Church, 4400 S. Orange Ave., on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the
Russell Home, Orlando, FL.

I've read all the notes about Ed's life. They were so elequently stated. He was such a special man as a teacher (my high school history teacher at Brick HS), as a leader at CJCS, where I was a substitute teacher, as a friend and bible study leader, and as a fellow Christian. His light glowed. He impacted many lives and will be missed.

Mrs Musgrave, Karin and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Mr Musgrave was so kind to me when I first came to CJCS. I was not in a very good place, and he somehow made it ok. Ricky was very fond of him too. May you find peace in knowing he is Home. Prayers are with you~ Mary Matthys (St. Petersburg, Florida)

Dear Musgraves,
I have such fond memories from when I was a child of Mr Musgrave. As a student at PCCA, he always made us smile when he visited the classrooms. His gentle spirit and love for the children was evident in everything he did. He touched my life and I know that he did the same for the other children that attended PCCA. My prayers are with your family. He will be missed.

Without question, Ed Musgrave will be remembered for his sincerity, loyalty, compassion, courage, and integrity. I did not mention his ingenious wit in that list because it deserves a few lines. I don’t think I have ever met a person who could make me laugh like Ed. His dry sense of humor and impeccable timing would leave me laughing until my sides ached. I was always convinced that Ed had to be Bob Newhart’s long-lost brother.

As with others who have posted here, Ed gave me my first teaching position after graduating from UCF in 1990. He warmly welcomed me to Pine Castle Christian Academy, and guided me through those tough beginning years in the classroom. Because of his early mentorship, I’m pleased to say that I will soon complete my fourteenth year in Christian education.

Lastly, Ed’s authentic love for his Savior and confidence in God’s providence allowed Ed to go through difficult times with such grace. Whenever I would run into Ed at the grocery store or a local restaurant, he was always ready with a big hug, a kind word, and a funny anecdote. His love for his family—Ellie, his children, and his grandchildren—could always been seen on his face as he would joyfully fill me in on their latest successes.

Ed Musgrave’s legacy of faith and grace is sure to live on in the hearts and lives of all he has touched.

Ellie and family, what a pleasure and honor it was to know Ed Musgrave! A good man who was honest, hardworking and caring. He pushed me to live to a higher standard, held me accountable for my actions, and made me achieve more than I thought I was capable of! He accomplished so much that will carry on, that he will live in the minds and hearts of many for years to come!

Ellie and family,
Ed was one of the kindness men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. My years with him at Pinecastle are among my fondest memories. He truly was the spiritual leader of the staff and it meant the world to me. I know you will always miss him, but please know how special he was to many of us and that he now has his reward for a life well-spent.
With much affection,

Ellie and family~ How sad I am to know that my sweet friend Ed has a new address. And yet... WHAT AN ADDRESS HE HAS! Best neighborhood of all!!

Oh... what an influence he had on my life while here. Gave me my first job out of college in 1984 and was very instrumental in arranging the meeting of my best friend and husband Mark. Still together and celebrating life 23 years later. All beginning with sweet Ed. Saw him not to long ago in Publix, where shopping is a pleasure and it WAS A PLEASURE to visit and hug the neck of sweet Ed. Had no idea that would be our last visit together as friends. We laughed and of course he shared a baseball story to impact my life one last time. Blessings of love to all of you.

Dear Ellie,

I was saddened to read about the death of your husband. Although I never met Ed we spoke on the phone when he purchased one of my paintings as a birthday present for you. He was so eager to surprise you with something you wanted!

I am currently on a David's House ministry tour in NY state but will be in touch after my return in May.

I know you will have good support in the days ahead from your church, family and friends.

"Mr Musgrave hired me as a first year teacher when I was a new Christian man. He was the most influential man in my spiritual growth. I am forever grateful for God allowing me to be a student of Ed's ministry and for him introducing me to another teacher he hired who became my wife 23 years ago. I will miss his encouraging words, fun humor, and his spiritual leadership counsel." In Him, Mark Ritchhart

What a wonderful man Ed Musgrave was! He hired me at PCCA (my first teaching job) and was a loving and gentle leader. He and Ellie helped Randy and I find our first home, too!

I ran into Ed at the hospital last year and it touched me to see him volunteering - continuing to serve others. A dear precious man of God!

My prayers are with you, Ellie and your family...

With love,
